Drug Treatment Center | The Discovery House

The Discovery House Drug Treatment Center

When an individual is ready to get help for a drug or alcohol addiction, they will want to know what to expect from a drug treatment center. There are some general addiction treatment phases that most residents experience when going through recovery, including detox, residential treatment, outpatient treatment, and extended care. The Discovery House offers a full continuum of care, as we aid our residents through every phase of drug addiction treatment they need to successfully complete our program.

Our residential treatment program is designed to help our residents heal in body, mind, and spirit. Our programs are tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual, as we know that no two people are alike. We offer a variety of services and amenities to help our residents feel comfortable and supported throughout their stay with us, including on-site medical care, individual and group therapy, recreation and leisure activities, and more. We also provide our residents with the tools they need to build a foundation for lasting recovery, such as life skills training, relapse prevention education, and discharge planning.

Our outpatient treatment program is designed to help those who have completed our residential program transition back into life outside of treatment. Our programs are structured to provide our residents with the support they need to continue their recovery journey, as they learn how to live drug-free in the real world. We offer a variety of services and amenities to help our residents feel comfortable and supported throughout their stay with us, including individual and group therapy, life skills training, relapse prevention education, and more.

Our extended care program is designed for those who need extra support as they transition back into life outside of treatment.

Drug and Alcohol Detox

Drug detox is the first and usually the shortest of the addiction treatment phases. In order to recover from an addiction to a substance, a person must cleanse their body of that substance. This is done through a process of abstinence and withdrawal.

Furthermore, drug and alcohol detox can sometimes be dangerous, and should only be performed under the watchful eye of qualified professionals. The reason why is because some substances like alcohol or opiates require special care during detox in order to avoid potentially life-threatening withdrawal symptoms.

The Discovery House drug treatment center offers in-house detoxification services to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents. Our facility provides clinically supervised detox for individuals and we have counselors on staff 24 hours a day to monitor the detox process around the clock and ensure the comfort and safety of our residents. Once the body has been cleansed of the substance, the individual can begin to focus on their recovery.

Drug Rehab Center

The Discovery House’s drug rehab center offers residential treatment in a private, home-like environment, making it easier for residents to commit to treatment and remain focused on recovery. Our Certified Substance Abuse counselor caseloads are a maximum of 3 residents per 1 counselor and are designed to deliver the most effective treatment experience possible.

Our inpatient rehabilitation process helps residents learn how to live life sober. One-on-one counseling, group counseling, family counseling, substance abuse and disease concept education, stress management, and life skills training are used to help each resident develop the tools necessary to stay sober.

Outpatient treatment is typically recommended once someone has successfully completed a residential program. The Discovery House offers an outpatient treatment program that includes individual and group counseling sessions, Chemical Dependency Education, 12-Step Support Groups, Life Skills Techniques, Reintegration Social Skills Groups and Relapse Prevention and Continuing Care. Our therapists work with residents to help them learn how to handle the daily challenges life presents with new perspectives, awareness of inner strength, effective communication tools, and problem-solving skills.

The residential treatment phase of addiction treatment is when an individual lives at the addiction treatment facility full-time and receives intensive therapy and counseling for their addiction. This phase of treatment usually lasts 30 to 90 days, although some people may need to stay in residential treatment for longer periods. The Discovery House offers a variety of therapies and counseling services to help our residents during this phase of treatment, including individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, and more.

After an individual has completed the residential treatment phase of addiction treatment, they may move on to outpatient treatment. Outpatient treatment is when a person attends therapy and counseling sessions at the addiction treatment facility on a part-time basis while living at home or in a sober living environment. This phase of addiction treatment usually lasts 3 to 6 months, although some people may need to stay in outpatient treatment for longer periods of time. The Discovery House offers a variety of outpatient treatment options to meet the needs of our residents.

After an individual has completed the residential treatment and outpatient treatment phases of addiction treatment, they may move on to extended care. Extended care is when a person attends therapy and counseling sessions at the addiction treatment facility on a part-time or full-time basis while living at home or in a sober living environment. This phase of addiction treatment usually lasts 6 to 12 months, although some people may need to stay in extended care for longer periods of time. The Discovery House offers a variety of extended care options to meet the needs of our residents.

Extended Alumni Program for Addiction

The final and longest of the addiction treatment phases is an extended alumni program for addiction. This stage of recovery takes place when an individual goes back home and puts what they’ve learned into practice in real life. It is important at this time for the person to stay connected to their drug treatment center and therapists. Some individuals benefit from moving into a sober living facility for some time so they can receive extra help and care. Support groups are important in after care, to provide encouragement and motivation to avoid relapse.

The Discovery House’s alumni program meets monthly, and members are always welcome to come back to our residences. Our alumni program helps residents connect with others who have experience in maintaining sobriety and have reached important milestones in the recovery process.
