5 Sober Date Night Ideas After Alcoholism Rehab

It can be tough to come up with new date night ideas after you’ve completed alcoholism rehab, but sober dates aren’t impossible. In fact, we think they can definitely be more fun. Despite popular belief, it is possible to go on a date free of alcohol and still have a great time. Many people use alcohol to calm their anxiety before, during, and after the date. You probably will be nervous, for sure. However, keep in mind that everyone is nervous before a date, some people are just better at hiding it. Your nerves may be running high, but a date night is something to look forward to and have fun with.

Drive-in Movie Theater
Ditch the regular movie theater for a drive-in. You could go to a movie any day of the week, but a drive-in theater offers that special experience that is undeniably more romantic. Pack a picnic, blankets, and some tea or hot chocolate and settle in for a cozy movie night under the stars.

Ice Skating
This one is seasonal, depending on where you live. Ice Skating is an activity that can be enjoyed at any time of the day, but for you romantics out there, once the sun goes down is the best time to hit the ice. Grab some hot chocolate, pile on the layers, and lace up for a romantic evening. If you’re not an experienced skater, it’s the perfect excuse for holding hands.

You’ll most likely have to plan this date ahead of time, unless you find some last minute tickets. A concert is an exhilarating, high energy date idea that is great for those abstaining from drugs and alcohol abuse and for those who are not. Keep in mind that you may be surrounded by people who are using drugs and alcohol and if you are not okay with that, a concert date may not be a safe place for you.

Holiday Lights
Here’s another fantastic date idea that is only seasonal. Drive, or walk around your neighborhood, or an area that is known for its amazing lights. Everybody likes holidays lights. This is an activity that is also great at the end of a date. Driving around after ice skating or a concert on the way home looking for amazing holiday light displays can be romantic, and is easily done sober.

Alcoholism Rehab

This is the simple yet romantic date idea that we all think of and it is a great low-key way to spend some time with someone special. Make it adventurous by choosing a place you’ve never been to or a food you’ve never tried before. You do not need alcohol to enjoy the food in front of you. All you need is someone special, great ambiance and conversation.

All of these date ideas are great for anyone who has been through alcohol therapy or for those who are simply interested in living a sober lifestyle. In reality, any date can be sober.
